Dear Alert citizens of Maharashtra and India

An unprecedented landmark event has occurred today in the field of RTI with positive approach of First Appellate authority of State Chief information Commissioner office.

A group of RTI activists attended an open-court hearing of RTI First Appeal at office of FAA of Maharashtra State Information Commission and video recorded the hearing too.

Details are :
RTI Appellant : Mr Kamlakar R Shenoy

First Appellate Authority : Secretary of Maharashtra State Information Commission

Sub:

A. 150 words condition is illegal. GAD affidavit in WP 65 OF 13 PARA 8 informing court that it is not prohibited

B. one subject condition  cannot be implemented as it is given in writing by office of Information Commissioner that they have no rules and guidelines. Hence first formulate rules.

Requested the FAA to submit the above objection to GAD for  enacting of necessary rules and directions.

Day, Date and Time :
Friday, 7.7 2023, 3 pm - 3:30 pm.

Case :
Mr Kamkakar R Shenoy Vs PIO of Maharashtra State Information Commission

In addition to the Appellant, six activists had attended to view the RTI First Appeal open-court hearing.

The activists present (in addition to Appellant Mr Kamlakar R Shenoy) were Ms. Reshma Chakraborthy, Ms Sonika Krantiveer, Mr Shivnarayan Sharma, Mr Sidney Almeida, Mr Vishwas Khade and Mr Harkesh Rajawat.

FAA of SCIC permitted presence of other members recording after informing the COURT Judgement that it is citizens right to video record the meeting with public servants and it is necessary for transparency and accountability.

FAA of SCIC also permitted all members to witness the public hearing.

We thank FAA of (SCIC) for conducting the hearing in dignified way.

So all activists, RTI users and concerned citizens are informed that no FAA nor SIC can prevent the Appellant from video recording the RTI hearings nor prevent you from attending any appellant's hearing as this is a quasi-judicial hearing.

Kindly spread this message to all activists and RTI users.

Thanks.
